The Chicago Math and Science Academy, CMSA, is a public charter school located in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago.  CMSA offers a tuition-free, high-caliber education for grades 6th through 12th.  The mission of CMSA is to “prepare students for college by creating an effective learning community of higher standards and expectations with a rigorous and advanced curriculum focusing on math, science and technology”.  We are open to all students, and currently have a waiting list of over 1200 in the high school alone. At CMSA, we believe that nothing is impossible.  With our dedicated and active faculty, staff, and partnerships with parents, CMSA supports all students on the track to success.

 

We are a public school. We do not charge tuition, nor do we select students based on academics.  But, we receive about 20% less funding than other public schools.  CMSA depends on outside support to make up for this difference.

 

At CMSA we believe that “Nothing is Impossible”.  As a part of the city-wide school athletics program, CMSA offers a wide range of team sports throughout the fall, winter and spring. Currently, CMSA uses off-site facilities to hold team practices.  Despite having to practice at an alternate location, our high school girls volleyball team and our high school boys soccer team each placed first in their division. In addition, one of our sophomore boys also placed second in the Chicago Marathon High School cross country meet.

 

Currently, students participate in physical education classes only when weather permits.  During winter, students share the cafeteria space for PE classes.  A full-sized gym will allow us to expand PE classes to teach a wide array of activities.

With your help, we can and WILL continue a successful athletic program.  We believe, with the addition of a new gym, “Nothing is Impossible” in our athletic program.
