Family Matters is a long-standing community anchor in the North of Howard area of Rogers Park--established in 1987 by families in the area who wanted a safe space for their children to be so that parents could return to work.
Their work began as a single after school tutoring program. Today, it has grown to include two after school youth development programs (the Project RISE teen leadership and job access program, and the Partners in Learning tutor/mentoring program); The Family Matters School, a K-4th grade specialty micro school for children who thrive outside of a traditional classroom.
